Dream High has turned out to be such a solid surprise hit. It’s got tons of news coverage (mainly for NOT sucking, and also for dethroning Athena and Queen of Reversals), and everyone seems to give a pass to the pretty mediocre acting from the idols, myself included.
I still like it, but right now only Kim Soo Hyun is holding down the fort, with his acting and storyline the remaining compelling parts of the drama for me. Both Suzy and Taecyeon‘s limited acting range was fine in the beginning, but now I need more from them and I’m not getting it, leaving me unable to connect with their characters anymore. I’ve also grown weary of the love-triangle-with-no-clear-direction. Nevertheless, DH continues to be an enjoyable drama to watch.

Why does JG look sad? Did the press find out that he’s not adopted?
It’s unclear as to what is going to happen with Gookie; the preview left that very vague, but I guess that’s a way to keep viewers coming back. I’m thinking that it has to do with something that he did in the past or like you said, that he isn’t adopted.
BTW – What’s up with Eun Jung’s extensions? It looks so fake. I liked her short hair, but if they’re going to give her long hair make it look real.
Cancel that, listening to the preview again, Gookie is under investigation for something. I think that it has to do with something he did in the past.
OK – I’m a gonna be PIIIIISSSSED if the Show puts JinGook through some wringer. It better be something related to his bad daddy because any former bad act comes out of nowhere, totally forced, not organic at all.
It’s Baek Hee’s fault. Something must have went wrong when she and JG went to see the manager. 😦

As for the love triangle with no direction, I think that it works for this story. These are students who are focused on becoming artists and it should focus more on their path to stardom verses a love story. I love romance and rom coms, but I like how DH focuses more on how they become stars more than love. Plus they are in high school; so realistically speaking, who knows if they have found their true love at that age? Hehehe…
Oh BTW Koala, have you seen the new preview for Midas?
I did see it today! It’s looks….okay. I dunno, something isn’t sparking with the entire concept, cast, and execution. I really need to watch one episode to make any concrete opinion about Midas.
As for the high school love-triangle in DH, if they have gone a J-dorama route like Nobuta wo Produce where the love aspect was not as heightened and focused on the friendship (with subtle understanding that it was a love triangle), I would’ve been happier.
But they totally sold the love triangle, and when you do that you need a bit more direction and momentum. It’s kinda stalled since the ferris wheel kiss.
Totally agree with you that it should be less focus on romance and more focus on self-realization.
This drama is my new crack. Not as addictive as MSOAN or PK, but I’m still pretty obsessed. Thanks for posting!

Hhmm, do you mean MP (My Princess)? I am not recapping DH (Dream High) and am not planning to start now that it’s so close to ending. I’m currently only recapping MP.
Why would the writer try so hard to give JinGook another extra storyline, the series is only about 16 episodes and JinGook storyline already consume 10 episodes of it, and in episode 13 he will dominate the whole storyline again???
Please give Song Sam dong a little more screentime, and less JinGook is for the better.

If you didn’t I won’t say too much other than the fact that the pendant has now been passed to Gookie; which lead me to the conclusion that maybe, just maybe the last person who gets the pendant will be the mysterious K yang possibly.
Dream High just keeps on getting betta and betta. Ah…
I also feel that the last person who are holding on to the pendant is the K!
I love this show.. despite it has flaws… I really adore the writers has manage to write a character development in a realistic way.
