Athena Update: Jung Woo Sung and Jung Chan Woo Discharged and Recuperating at Home with Mild Injuries

Update: Jung Woo Sung and co-star Jung Chan Woo have both been discharged from the hospital after suffering an on-set injury while filming an action sequence in Athena: Goddess of War. Producers have clarified that initial news reports that listed both actors as seriously injured were in fact incorrect, though both did require emergency medical assistance. Jung Woo Sung suffered a mild leg injury, while Jung Chan Woo’s injury was not severe but still need stitches in the head for a cut.

Thank heavens for both actors, and the entire production team. While both injured actors have been sent home to rest and recuperate, the rest of the cast and crew are still filming as we speak. The production has yet to decide whether this week’s two episodes will air as scheduled. I don’t think I let out my breath for the entire day until I heard this update. This makes Athena 2-2 in terms of its two leading actors getting injured and/or falling ill during production. I plan to watch Athena until the very end, but I wonder whether Jung Woo Sung’s screen time will be limited in the foreseeable future while his leg injury heals since its doubtful he can perform the same level of stunt work he was doing prior to the accident.

Thanks for good news, Ockoala. I feel better now as both actors had discharged from the hospital with mild injuries. I wish both JWS and JCW have a nice fully rest.

    Athena is cursed, I think.

CSW first. Then, the guy from F.CUZ who was in a car accident after he finished shooting his scenes for the drama. And now this?

So happy to hear they’re relatively fine. I was SO scared yesterday.
